Heartfelt post. The thing to keep in mind, is that she knew you really cared about her. I'm sure she understood the demands in your life. It has to be hard to balance having a life of your own and a family to care for, while worrying about the lives of so many others.

I hope you never lose your compassion and caring for your patients.

I'm so glad you wrote this essay. I'm especially glad it begins as a letter to Mrs. Lewis.

In the event that she still has an eye on our world, perhaps she has seen this, and is touched. But either way, I am confident that she felt your regard for her, that she appreciated your company along the way, and that she has long since forgiven you for not showing up on the last day.

And I am so glad that you and she found things to laugh about together.
